This will make your brain hurt!

Dilbert's "Salary Theorem" states:

"Scientists and Engineers can never earn as much as administrators and sales people."

This theorem can now be proved mathematically:

Given:
Power = Work / Time
Knowledge = Power

Therefore:
Knowledge = Work/ Time

It is commonly understood that time = money

Then: Knowledge = Work/Money

Solve for Money: Money = Work/Knowledge

Therefore, as knowledge -> 0, money -> ∞ infinity, and is independent of the amount of work accomplished.

Conclusion: the less you know, the more you make.

That is excellent! I am going to post this theorem in my office in hopes to encourage those of us with abstract jobs where we never really see the work accomplished by the countless hours of effort put forward. In the military there is the necessary cap on salary to prevent those with no useful knowledge at all from ruling the world. Good thing I'm not in this for the money....
