Never underestimate the power of retail therapy.
Being cold makes me crabby. Very crabby. There is nothing in me that likes being cold. I actually enjoy humidity and I enjoy a good sweat.
Montana challenges my crabbiness.
I realized the depth of my dislike of being cold this summer. And when Jeremy told me that it was going to SNOW this weekend, I knew I had to do something about it. Unfortunately, while I have lost quite a bit of weight, I'm still 20lbs away from my prime and virtually all of my clothes. Yesterday, God took pity on me and blessed my socks off with one of the best shopping experiences of my life!
Living so close to Canada, our stores actually have major sales to correspond to Canadian holidays. This is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and JC Penny celebrated in style. And in addition to their tremendous sale, a friend had given me a $25 gift card to the store. I ended up with four sweaters, two pullover fleeces, one fleece vest, a pair of sweatpants, a lightweight coat, and five shirts (retail $434) for just $124 out of pocket. I was still saying "Thank you, Jesus" as I went to sleep last night. It was good timing. I woke up this morning and I can no longer see the beautiful leaves in my yard. I can't see my sidewalk. All I see is snow.
So, for my dear friends Mary and Caryn who live in places where the leaves do not change, I will join your sad group. Although fall came to Montana, it only stayed a week. Now it is winter. Again. Until May.
My challenge for today is Philippians 4:8:
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
I won't be thinking about the snow...I think about my warm sweaters instead!
